Ishita Arun is an Indian model, VJ and actress.
Career
Ishita appeared on Television screen when she did her first commercial at the age of three for Vicks Vaporub alongside Jayant Kripalani. This was the famous "Gale mein khich khich" ad which aired for years on Doordarshan. She participated in a children’s theatre workshop conducted by Nadira Babbar, at the age of nine, and worked with Gullan Kriplani for a morning series called Science Basics. Prior to this Ishita appeared in Shyam Benegal’s TV serial Yatra.
She made her music video debut in 1999 opposite Sonu Nigam in the singer’s song "Bijuria" from his pop album Mausam (Magnasound). Her film debut came through a Tamil film Snegithiye (2000) directed by Priyadarshan. The Malayalam version of this movie was called Raakilipaatu, but for reasons unknown was only released in 2007. Recently in 2006, she hosted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu alongside Shaan and participated in NDTV Imagine's reality show Dil Jeetegi Desi Girl in 2010.
Besides amateur theatre, Ishita’s has also starred in a documentary on the life of famous classical singer Alla Jillai Bai, in which she played the great singer in her childhood. Ishita recorded her first two songs at the age of eight, for the very same documentary. Ishita has trained in Shiamak Davar’s Institute of Performing Arts and also learnt Kathak. Ishita is learning singing from Ustad Maqbool Hussain.
In 2011, she started a space designing company "D se dijhaeen".[1]
Personal life
Ishita is the daughter of actress and singer Ila Arun,[1] born on 14 September 1979 in Jaipur. Ishita was a student of Mumbai’s St. Xavier’s College. Prior to this, she studied in the Arya Vidya Mandir Girls School in amravati. Ishita Arun married Dhruv Ghanekar[1] in 2005. Dhruv Ghanekar is a classical and jazz musician. He is better known for his melodious music in the unfortunate Drona (2008). Dhruv Ghanekar is part of the band Chakraview and has composed several jingles for advertisements.
