Ira Madison III (born 1986) is a writer at The Daily Beast and formerly a writer for MTV News and BuzzFeed.[1] He has also written for Variety [2] and GQ Magazine.[3] Nylon named Madison III to its 2016 list of the "The 25 Best Things We Read Online In 2016," calling his essay on Donald Trump's political rise "a fascinating look at the culturally sanctioned making of a monster."[4][5] In January 2017, CNN anchor Jake Tapper called Madison III lacking in humanity[6] for criticizing Attorney General of the United States Jeff Sessions' bringing his Asian granddaughter to his confirmation hearing to distract against allegations that Sessions has been racially biased against African-Americans.[7] In April 2017, Madison III was featured in the documentary The Culture of Proximity. [8]
Madison III also co-hosted a podcast at MTV News with Doreen St. Félix in 2016 called "Speed Dial with Ira and Doreen," that focused on music, pop culture, and race.[9] Madison III was also named one of the "most reliably hilarious and incisive cultural critics writing now" by Nylon in 2016, noting his now-concluded column "Delete Your Account" a "must-read." [10] Madison III attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for a Masters Degree in Dramatic Writing.
He lives in Los Angeles, California.
