Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) is a women's university located in New Delhi, India on the heritage campus of Delhi College of Engineering. It was founded as the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in 1998 and was the only constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. In May 2013 it gained autonomy and became the first women's technical university in India established by Govt. of Delhi.
The university has four branches of engineering, namely Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Information Technology and Architecture and Planning.
Recently, Bachelors in Architecture and planning has been started as a new course.

History
Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology was established by Department of Training and Technical Education, Govt. of Delhi, in 1998 as the first woman Engineering College in India. It was the first institute to become a constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.[1] From May, 2013 IGIT has been known as Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women.
Administration
Nupur Prakash is the founder Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women established by Govt. of Delhi in 2013 as the first Women’s Technical University. Dr.S.Kazim Naqvi holds the position of the Registrar of the University.
Courses and admissions
The university offers undergraduate Bachelor of Technology courses in four different fields, namely Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical and Automation Engineering.[2] It also offers undergraduate Bachelor Of Architecture course. Postgraduate courses include a Master of Computer Applications and Master of Technology in Information Security management, VLSI Design, Mobile and Pervasive Computing and Robotics and Automation, as well as a Ph.D. For BTech courses students are selected through Joint Admission Counseling(JAC) (based on IITJEE MAINS rank). Other members of JAC are NSIT Delhi, DTU Delhi and IIIT-D.[3]

The campus has an Under Graduate and Post Graduate hostel wing with a capacity of approximately 200 students each.
Student Bodies
- CSI Student Branch
The CSI IGDTUW Student Branch was formed on 18 August 2008 under the guidance of Ms. Vibha (Faculty Advisor, CSI IGIT) and it was formally inaugurated on 20 October 2008 followed by a week-long celebration consisting of competitions, quizzes, workshops and so on. It is a technical society which serves as a platform innovative for the ideas of IGITians. The branch aims to create a technology oriented environment in IGDTUW.
- ACM Student Chapter
Established in year 2012,the Student chapter aims at creating and developing technical knowledge among students. Study groups have been launched to make students learn other than academics. The ACM SB aims at creating technology oriented environment in IGDTUW.
- IEEE Student Branch
The IGDTUW IEEE Student Branch is one of the most active student branches under the Delhi Section, Region 10 (Asia Pacific). Established in 2004, the IGIT IEEE SB has progressed under the able mentorship of Branch Counselor Prof. Jasdeep Dhanoa (HOD, ECE Dept.).Under the IEEE activities, a number of weekly events have been conducted all around the year, like Technical Crosswords, Vocabulary, Techno-Pictionary, Hardware design quiz, to mention a few.
- SAE IGDTUW Collegiate Club
Established in 2000, SAE-IGDTUW Collegiate Club enabled IGDTUW to become an integral part of SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS, based in Detroit, U.S.A. It provides the student members of IGDTUW with an ideal platform for having an insight in all the technological revolutions taking place around the world. Under the aegis of SAE Collegiate club and Mr Vivek Chawla as the Faculty Advisor, various industrial visits, technical events and workshops are organized annually. The college students has been taking part in the following SAE India Programs: BAJA SAE India, SUPURA, Effi- Cycle, AWIM (A World In Motion), SAE India Foundation Scholarship (Kalpna Chawla Award).
- Technoliterati - The Literary Society
Technoliterati is the Literary Society of IGDTUW. Techno literati has a magazine ‘MINDSCAPES’ which covers the best articles from the college students, polls about the latest issues and interviews with the most famous people across the campus. The IGDTUW newsletter ‘WAVELENGTH’ has all news about IGDTUW faculty and student achievements, faculty details and all the news related to extra curricular activities of IGDTUW.
- Greensphere - The Eco club
GREENSPHERE, the environment club of IGDTUW, aims at increasing the environmental awareness among students.
- Synergy, The Sports Club
This Sports Club is set up to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and unity in the enthusiastic technocrats. The sports activities include volleyball, basketball, table tennis and badminton currently.
- Leaders for Tomorrow
Leaders For Tomorrow is a non-profit youth leadership movement established mainly in the college campuses to awaken the social consciousness of the youth, encourage volunteerism and social action among them. The organization, along with its volunteers from the college, had successfully organized a great number of activities last year, such as cleanliness drive, paper bag making competition, tree plantation drive, the Anti-Drug-Anti-Ragging campaign and many more.
- Hypnotics - The Dance Society
Hypnotics is the dance Society of IGDTUW that inspires the students to utilize the wonderful art of dance to express true feelings and emotions. The Hypnotics Team of IGDTUW is trained in a variety of dance forms and has always made an effort to present myriad forms of dancing, ranging from classical to folk, contemporary to hip hop, lyrical to ballroom dancing.
- Rahnuma - the Dramatics Society
The dramatics society of IGDTUW, Rahnuma, trains the members in street plays and participates in various college fests as well as public shows to spread messages on burning social issues. The theme for 2013-14 was 'Seven Sins'.
- Entrepreneurship Development Cell
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell focuses on creating an entrepreneurship ecosystem in campus by organizing various activities and workshop. EDC aims to create entrepreneurs in IGDTUW. After installation of incubation center in campus, EDC strives for good startups in campus.
Technical and Cultural Fests
- Taarangana
Taarangana is the cultural fest of IGDTUW and was held for the first time on 30-31st January,2014. It is organised henceforth every year in January.
- Tremors
Tremors is the annual technical fest of the CSI Student Chapter of IGDTUW. Held every year for three days during the month of March.
- Impulse
Impulse is the annual technical fest of the IEEE Student Chapter of IGDTUW. Held every year for three days during the month of March.
- Espectro
Espectro is the annual technical fest of the ACM Student Chapter of IGDTUW. Held every year for three days during the month of March.
- Xebec
Xebec is the annual technical fest of the SAE Student Chapter of IGDTUW. Held every year for three days during the month of March.
- e-Summit
Entrepreneurship Summit is a two day event which celebrates the spirit of entrepreneurship by bringing various stakeholders of entrepreneurial ecosystem under one roof. It is organized by EDC every year in March.
