Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli (IIITT) is one among the 20 IIITs proposed under the non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model by MHRD. IIITT is an academic and research institute fully funded by Govt. of India, Govt. of Tamil Nadu and Indian industry partners in the ratio of 50:35:15. Industry partners include Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), Infosys, Ramco Systems, ELCOT, and Navitas (Take Solutions).The Focus is to address the challenges faced by the Indian IT industry and growth of the domestic IT market, the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Government of India has established Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis like 19 other IIITs. Objective
A major objective in establishing IIITT is to set up a model of education which can produce best-in-class human resources in IT and harnessing the multidimensional facets of IT in various domains. While the number of students produced would be small, the impact they create would be great.This objective laid down by MHRD is common to all IIITs. [4]
Campus
Temporary Campus
IIIT Tiruchirappalli started functioning in 2013 in the premises of Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) Campus, University College of Engineering, Anna University, Tiruchirappalli but it was shifted to National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli on 22 March 2016. Currently,The transit campus of IIITT is functioning within the NITT Campus. The NITT resources such as Boys and Girls Hostels, Messes, Central Library, Sports Facilities, Swimming Pool, Hospital, Bank, Post Office, Canteen, Class rooms, Laboratories and Central Computing facilities are being shared with IIITT.[5]
Permanent Campus
The permanent campus of IIITT will be established approximately in 56 acres of land identified in Sethurappatti Village, Srirangam Taluk, Tiruchirappalli which is 15km away from Tiruchirappalli Junction and 10km from Viralimalai Town, Pudukkottai District along the highway of Tiruchirappalli to Madurai. The land is encroachment free and cleared for construction. The master plan has been finalised.

The admission to B.Tech programs is done through JEE-Mains and the admission to M.Tech programs is done through GATE.The GATE qualified candidates are admitted to PG Program through Centralized Counselling for M. Tech (CCMT) and the JEE-Mains qualified candidates are admitted to UG program through Centralized Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) following the reservation policy of Govt. of India.
Curriculum
The M.Tech. Curriculum has following components:

Relative grading is used to assess the performance of the students. The Projects work is of one year duration and may be carried out in reputed Industries also.
The B. Tech. Curriculum has the following components:

Relative grading is used to assess the performance of the students. The B.Tech. Curriculum and Syllabus is same as NIT Tiruchirappalli.
Placements
The training and placement cell is proposed to bring in the services of Industry Partners to help, co-ordinate and arrange for campus placement opportunities to the UG and PG students. It is expected that the Department of Training and Placement will be functional from the end of Academic Year 2017-2018. The advantage of IIITs is that Industry Partners are one of the stake holders of the Institute. There Industry partners are willing to offer internships to students during their studies to enrich their programming skills and application of ideas to projects, etc. Students are encouraged to undertake projects in Industries.

Long Term Vision
With the advent of Networking, the popularity of Social Networking, and the growing use of technology by everyone increases the security threat also. Moreover, the growing need for Multimedia applications demand very high power processor designs. Further, there is a need and compulsion for Smart Environment composed of Intelligent Systems. In order to address theses need research has to be carried out by establishing various Centre of Excellence (COE)s, with COE focusing on well-defined objectives. The identified COEs are as follows:

Clubs
Feliz CLUB
The club is a student club of volunteers formed to identify the needs of socially weaker sections such as old age homes, orphanages, etc. and to extend a helping hand to their requirements. The Feliz club was formally inaugurated on 07, April 2017.
Festivals
Institute Day
This year Institute Day was celebrated on 07, April 2017. On this day Meritorious students were awarded Certificates and Medals. Various cultural activities were performed by the students which include Indian Classical Dance, Solo Dance, Mono Act, Group Dance. The Chief Guest for the event was Shri. Paul Pandian, Group Director ISRO Inertial Systems, Thiruvananthapuram.
Sports Day
On the Occasion of 75th Independence Day, the Institute celebrated its Sports Day, which lasted for a week. The students of IIITT participated in various sports like Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Chess, Basketball, Football and Table Tennis. The winners were awarded Trophies and Medals.
Atrang
The students of IIITT have come out with a Literature Festival Atrang. It is proposed to be conducted as a one day activity for the first time in this AY 2016-17 on 13, April 2017 by inviting eminent, popular and renowned personalities in various fields of arts and literature.
Extra and Co-Curricular Activities
On 22 February, 2017, Mr. Ramanarayasamy, Co-founder of Senzwiz Technologies delivered a Seminar Talk on the topic Technology Trends. Shri P. Rajshekar Murthy, Director, Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC), New Delhi delivered a seminar talk on Protecting Indian Cyber Space and its Critical Information Infrastructure from hackers on 06, March 2017. Mr. Subramanian, Chief Information Officer & Head of Technology (South Asia), Citi Group delivered a seminar talk on The Technical Challenges and Opportunities in Banking Services after Demonetization on 14, March 2017. 40 students participated in Techno Cultural Festival hosted by IIITDM Jabalpur during 23-26 March 2017 and won prizes in various categories.Various Sports events were conducted among the students and the winners and participants were awarded momentos.
