Indian Institute of Information Technology, Pune (abbreviated IIITP), is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology, a group of institutes of higher education in India focused on information technology. The IIITP is located in Pune, Maharashtra, and will start functioning in July 2016 at a temporary campus at the Siddhant College of Engineering, Sudumbare, Pune.[1][2] For the academic year 2016-2017, it offers two courses in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) they are, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science & Engineering (CSE). It is being mentored by College of Engineering, Pune (COEP).

History

Establishment

IIITP was approved by the Government of India's (GOI) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). IIITP has been set up on a public–private partnership (PPP) basis. Fifty percent of the stakes are held by MHRD, whereas 35% is held by the Government of Maharashtra; the rest is held by industry partners, Rolta India and Hubtown Limited.

COEP was declared as IIITP 's mentor institute, and COEP director Dr. Bharatkumar bhagatraj Ahuja was appointed as IIITP 's mentor director.

Courses

IIITP offers two B.Tech courses they are Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), with an intake capacity of 60 students each.

Campus

A temporary campus for IIITP has been setup at C Building Siddhant College of Engineering, Sudumbare, Pune. It is intended that the institute will eventually move to its own campus, spread over 100 acres in Chakan.[1]
