Imran Ahmed is a British, Los Angeles-based, music industry executive and in 2014 was named Head Of A&R at XL Recordings.[1]

Early life

Born in Chelmsford, Essex, Ahmed attended Notley High School. Ahmed read Politics and Communication at the University of Liverpool and graduated with BA 2:2 Honours in 2001.

Career

Ahmed launched XL Recordings Limited offshoot Abeano Records in 2006, signing Vampire Weekend to the label in 2007. He was promoted to Director of A&R in 2009.[2] and most recently to XLā€™s Head of A&R in 2014.[3] Ahmed was responsible for bringing Vampire Weekend, Jai Paul and Jungle to the label's attention. He has also worked with Bobby Womack and Iceage amongst others.
