Censorship
When Il carro armato dell'8 settembre was first released in Italy in 1960 the Italian Committee for the Theatrical Review of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities rated the film suitable for those 16 years and older. The committed the projection of the film to the public as long as the scene in which Carlo lying in bed caressing Angelina’s breast who is also on the bed on her knees, is deleted. The age restriction was justified in the official documents by the presence of several scenes and dialogue considered to be inappropriate to the sensitivity of a minor as well as to the specific need to protect the morals of a minor. The scene to be deleted was required to be removed because it was considered offensive to decency and morality. In addition to the aforementioned, the Representative of the Italian Ministry of the Interior required - in opposition to other members of the Committee - that the scenes be deleted in which Angelina is fixing her shoe while leaning against a wall under a religious icon; and the dialogue in which Barnes addressing Carlo says “Spend the night with me”. The official document number is: 32911, it was signed on 20 Sept 1960 by Minister Domenico Magrì
