Igor Boţan (born April 15, 1960, Cojuşna) is a political analyst from Moldova, expert on political phenomena and elections.[1][2]

Biography

Igor Boţan was born on April 15, 1960, in Cojuşna, and holds a degree in physics from the Moldova State University (1982). He also holds a Ph.D. in physics and mathematics. He studied also at the Georgetown University[1] Between 1992 and 1994, he worked for the President of Moldova. Since 1995, he has been a correspondent for the Moldova Azi online magazine and for the Vocea Civica newspaper. Between 2000-2008, Boţan worked as political commentator for Radio Free Europe, BBC, and The Economist Intelligence Unit.[3]

Since 1999, he has been the Executive Director of the Association for Participative Democracy (ADEPT) (Romanian: Asociaţia pentru democraţie participativă ADEPT), one of the most qualified NGOs in the field of electoral problems. He has been working for TV7.
