Humacao Airport (IATA: HUC, FAA LID: X63) is a public use airport owned by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority and located one nautical mile (1.85 km) southeast of the central business district of Humacao, a city in Puerto Rico.[1]

Because of the new José Aponte de la Torre Airport in Ceiba which opened in November 2008, Humacao Airport and Fajardo Airport were scheduled to shut down operations. However, as of July 2009, Humacao Airport was still listed as an active airport by the Federal Aviation Administration.[1]

Facilities and aircraft

Humacao Airport covers an area of 14 acres (5.7 ha) at an elevation of 33 ft (10 m) above mean sea level. It has one asphalt paved runway designated 10/28 which measures 2,450 ft × 60 ft (747 m × 18 m).[1]

For the 12-month period ending March 16, 1998, the airport had 5,349 aircraft operations, an average of 14 per day: 76% general aviation, 22% air taxi and 2% military. At that time there were 35 aircraft based at this airport: 66% ultralight, 26% single-engine and 6% multi-engine and 3% helicopter.[1]
