Howard Snell (trumpeter)

Howard Dunster Snell (born 21 September 1936)[1] is a British trumpeter, brass band composer and brass band conductor.

Early life

He was born in Wollaston, Northamptonshire.[2]

Career

Classical music

He became Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and served on its board. He was also Principal Trumpet of the London Sinfonietta and English Chamber Orchestra.

Brass bands

In 1978 he became involved with brass band music in Leicestershire.

In the late 1980s he worked with what became Foden's Band in Cheshire.

Personal life

He married Angela. They have two sons and two daughters. He lives in Labastide-Murat, France in Lot (department), in the Midi-Pyrénées region.
