Houssem Aouar (born 30 June 1998) is a French footballer who plays for Lyon as a midfielder.[1]

Club career

Aouar developed through the Lyon academy. He made his first team debut in on 16 February 2017 in a 1–4 away win against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League. He entered the field after 84 minutes for Sergi Darder.[2] Aouar scored his first professional goal a week later in the return leg in a 7–1 home victory.[3] He makes his Ligue 1 debut against Bastia on 16 April 2017, but the match was interrupted and given as a win to Lyon 3 weeks later.[4] He played the last half-hour of a 2–1 loss against Monaco.

Aouar is of Algerian descent.[5]
