House of Álvarez-Cuevas

The House of Álvarez-Cuevas or House of Álvarez de Cuevas is a spanish aristocratic family. In the 19th century, they possessed the noble titles of Marquis of Santa Cruz de Marcenado and Viscount of Puerto.

The House of Álvarez-Cuevas is originally from the Kingdom of Castile, specifically from El Puerto de Santa María, in the province of Cádiz. In the 18th century, the senior line of the family was established in the Principality of Catalonia, when Juan de Álvarez-Cuevas y de Craywinckel married María Luisa de Viard y de Salvador, niece of the Count of Fogonella.

Until 1936, the family lived in the Royal Palace of Villafranca del Panadés[1] (Province of Barcelona).

In 1940, Juan de Álvarez-Cuevas y Serra married María del Carmen de Saavedra y de Maciá (heiress of the House of Maciá).[2] From that moment, the Álvarez-Cuevas family established their residence in the Maciá Palace of Villafranca del Panadés.
