"Hollywood Is Just a Dream When You're Seventeen" is a song by French singer Amanda Lear released in 1981 by Ariola Records.
Song information
The song was written by Anthony Monn, Amanda Lear and German composer Hanne Haller. It's a mid-tempo pop track and like all the other songs on Incognito, it refers to the sin of laziness. Lyrically, it deals with dreams and the way Hollywood and stardom are perceived by a teenager. The single was released only in Brazil, and it failed to reach the charts.
Music video
The music video presents Amanda in a Marlene Dietrich-esque outfit, imitating the manner of the late German actress. This footage is intertwined with still pictures stylized as Hollywood portraits. Another video for the song was made in 1983 as a part of Lear's TV special Ma chi è Amanda? for Italian audience.
