Himachal Pradesh University (or simply HPU) (Hindi: हिमाचल प्रदेश विश्वविद्यालय) is a public non-profit university at Summer Hill about 5 km from the world-renowned hill-station Shimla, in the vicinity of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. It is wholly financed by the government of Himachal Pradesh and the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

History

Himachal Pradesh University was established on 22 July 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
