Highwood, Wokingham
Highwood is a local nature reserve between Woodley and Earley.[1] The nature reserve is owned and managed by Wokingham Borough Council.[2]
Geography and site
The nature reserve is 15.23 hectares (37.6 acres) in size.[1] The nature reserve is mixed lowland woodland with a heathland area.[3] The site also features examples of exotic tree species which were part of an arboretum in the grounds of what was Woodley Lodge.[3]
History
Highwood used to form part of the grounds of Woodley Lodge.[3]
In 1992 the site was declared as a local nature reserve by Wokingham Borough Council.[2]
