Hetmanate
The Hetmanate (Ukrainian: Гетьманат or Гетьманщина), a political entity ruled by a hetman, may refer to:
- Cossack Hetmanate, a Cossack state in the central and north-eastern regions of Ukraine during 1649-1775.
- Cossack regiments: the name "Hetmanate", especially in Russian sources, referred to Cossack regiments in Left-bank Ukraine that were under of the authority of Moscow's hetman from 1667 onward. This excludes both Zaporizha and Sloboda Ukraine.[1]
- Left-bank Ukraine from 1667 through the 18th century, referred to as "Little Russia" or as "the Hetmanate" in Russian sources.[2]
- the Ukrainian State, a short-lived polity in Ukraine during 1918.
