Heinz Probst (19 April 1925 – 19 February 2015) was a German infantryman and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.

Career

During early December of 1944 Unteroffizier Probst especially distinguished himself in the fighting around Grünthal. He proved very adept at patrolling, as well as intercepting Soviet patrols. He also did well combating enemy armour, destroying seven Soviet tanks with either the Panzerfaust or Panzerschreck. For his exceptional service at this time he was awarded the Knight's Cross the following year.[1]
