Heartbreak Hotel is the 8th episode of the fourth season of Castle. It was directed by Bill Roe and written by Elizabeth Davis. It originally aired on November 7, 2011 on ABC.[1] In the episode, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) investigate the death of an Atlantic City casino owner.

Plot

The episode resolves around the death of Sam Siegal, the co-owner of Sapphire Coast Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, whose body was found at an abandoned warehouse in New York.

Castle, Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) head to the casino in Atlantic City. Castle and Esposito are determined to throw Ryan a bachelor party although Ryan admits that due to pressure from his fiance's family, Jenny's teenage brother and not Esposito is going to be Ryan's best man.

Beckett meanwhile has been kept in New York by Captain Gates (Penny Johnson Jerald) who wants to see how Beckett works on her own without Castle around.

Alexis (Molly Quinn), who is still trying to get over her recent breakup from her boyfriend, has been convinced by Castle that a girl's night will help her feel better. This, however, doesn't go to plan as a party ends up breaking out at the apartment.

Reception

The original broadcast was watched by 11.07 million viewers.[2]

The A.V. Club gave the episode a C+ calling the episode too frivolous[3] while TVOvermind called it a filler episode.[4]
