Hatobana is a studio album by the Japanese noise musician Merzbow. It was released on October 14, 2016, by the Italian label Rustblade, and is his fifth release for the label. It was released as a double album and a deluxe edition with a bonus CD.[2] It was originally announced for release on Noisoke Records in 2013.[3][4]

The "Hachigata" tracks are named after the Hachigata train station, which is located between two train stations referenced on Tamayodo and by "Obusuma" on Grand Owl Habitat. "Granulation 221" was previously released on a split album in 2015.[5] The "Ko To No O To" tracks were previously released as a 7" in 2013. "Calling the Rain" was announced as a 7" in 2013, but went unreleased.[6]

Packaging

The standard edition includes 2 CDs in a Digipak. The deluxe edition includes the standard edition, a bonus CD in a cardboard sleeve, a translucent postcard, a bird-shaped pendant on a cord, and comes in a grey jute bag with a pin attached.
