Harry Brown (born April 13, 1955) is an American businessman and politician; he is a member of the North Carolina State Senate.[1] He represents the state's sixth Senate district, which consists of Jones and Onslow counties.
Brown is an automobile dealer. He first ran for the North Carolina House as a Democrat in 2002, but was unsuccessful.[2]
He left the Democratic Party and joined the Republican Party. In 2004 Brown defeated Democratic incumbent Cecil Hargett.[3] He retained his seat in 2006 by beating challenger Carolyn Pittman-Dorsey.[4]
Brown was largely responsible for the adoption of a anti wind power measure - house bill 589 - which has banned any new wind turbines including those already in development. Coincidentally these in development projects are in Democrat controlled Northampton.[5]
