Inaugurated in 1981 as the Yankee Valor Handicap, in 1989 it was renamed the Harold C. Ramser Sr. Handicap.

For three-year-olds and up through 1989.
Not run in 1982, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996-97.
Raced on the main track at 1 ¹⁄₁₆ miles from 1981 to 1985 and 1987 to 1989 (inclusive); at 1 ¹⁄₈ miles in 1986.
