Harbortouch is the trading name of "United Bank Card, Inc.",[1] an American provider of touch-screen point-of-sale (POS) systems as well as payment and transaction processing services. Located in Pennsylvania, Harbortouch currently handles the merchant accounts for over 150,000 merchant locations and processing in excess of $13 billion annually.

History

Harbortouch was founded as United Bank Card in 1999 by Jared Isaacman in the basement of his family's house when he was 16 years old.[2] Isaacman has been recognized as one of "America's Best Entrepreneurs" by BusinessWeek Magazine and "30 Entrepreneurs Under 30" by Inc. Magazine. Isaacman was also named as a finalist for the Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" award for 2006, 2007 and 2008 and was the youngest person ever named on the list of "Industry Leaders" by the credit card industry’s leading publication, The Green Sheet. The company is credited with introducing the first "free credit card terminal program" in 2004, a business model that is now standard in the processing industry.

The company is a six-time Inc. 500/5000 honoree,[3] and was listed on Deloitte's 2008 "Technology Fast 50" list. Additionally, Harbortouch was named a gold winner by the 2012 Golden Bridge Awards, a silver winner by the 2012 Best in Biz Awards and a bronze winner by the 2012 American Business Awards. Most recently, in 2013 they again were named a gold winner by the Golden Bridge Awards, and again silver in the Best Biz Awards for 2013.[4]

Services

Harbortouch provides payment processing services for many electronic payment methods, such as credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and loyalty cards. The company also offers various merchant services such as check services and cash advances and multiple online merchant services and processing options.

First launched in early 2008, Harbortouch started as a division of United Bank Card, but since 2012 has become the d/b/a name of the entire company. Harbortouch is a supplier of point-of-sale (POS) products, distributed through Independent Sales Offices. In 2011, the company launched a POS system program which allows merchants to obtain a Harbortouch POS system with a monthly service fee and quarterly software support fee required. This program has become the flagship product of the company since the d/b/a name change in 2012.[5]
