The Hanwha Group (Hangul: 한화그룹; Hanja: 韓華그룹; RR: Hanhwa Geurup) is one of the largest business conglomerates (chaebol) in South Korea.

History

Hanwha Group was founded as Korea Explosives Co. (Hangul: 약주식회사; Hanja: 藥株式會社) in 1952, after decades of growth, the group has became a large multi-profile business conglomerate, with diversified holdings stretching from explosives, their original business, to retail to financial services. In 1992 the company adopted its abbreviation as the new name: "Hanwha".

Branding and Localization

The Chinese branding for Hanwha is 韓華 (Simplified Chinese is 韩华). Chinese is the only foreign language in which Hanwha has specific translated name.[2]

Subsidiaries

Hanwha has 56 affiliates in South Korea alone and 226 networks (affiliates, branches and representative offices) around the world (as of June 2016). However, on the other branches, other ceos have taken root. Some include Kim Ji-Dilleon and others.
