Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences (Finnish: Haaga-Helia ammattikorkeakoulu, Swedish: Haaga-Helia yrkeshögskola; formerly Helsinki Business Polytechnic and Helia) is one of Finland's largest business polytechnics ("ammattikorkeakoulu" in Finnish). It is an open University of Applied Sciences, owned by a foundation run by Helsinki's business community. This Institution is fully supervised and accredited by the Finnish government through the Ministry of Education and Culture. The school's primary facilities are in Pasila, Helsinki. It has other premises in Haaga, Malmi (all in Helsinki), and in Porvoo and Vierumäki.

Haaga-Helia offers courses in business, information technology, sport and leisure education, hospitality, tourism, management assistant education, vocational teacher education programmes, journalism, marketing, and in languages. It has about 10,500 students and about 630 employee, of whom nearly 400 are full-time teachers.

Research, Development and Innovation Services(RDI)

Haaga-Helia is a valued partner in research, development and innovation (RDI) activities among domestic and international collaborators. We aim to support and guide project activities and funding applications. Furthermore, we emphasize utilization and commercialization of project results.

The concrete business and development-oriented projects are implemented for example in the following fields: regional development, vocational teacher education, staff development, business and sales, sport and health, tourism, hospitality and restaurant business, development of education, Information technology, RDI development, networking, entrepreneurship, and business co-operation.

Projects can be divided in four focus areas depending on their contents and emphasis: new solutions of services and sales, new solutions of the learning, new solutions of entrepreneurship and digital business, and other strategic projects.

Tomorrow's Airport

Tomorrow's Airport' project is part of World Design Capital 2012 projects which are ongoing the whole year 2012.[2] Tomorrow's Airport is a project from Haaga–Helia University in cooperation with Select Service Partner (SSP), Unione and Finavia. The main aim of the project is research, develop, foresee and make new innovations for the design environment, products and service concepts of the airport. The emphasis is on developing the restaurant, lounges and foodstore.

Haaga-Helia’s alumni – A Network of Specialists Spanning the Globe

Haaga-Helia alumni are the graduates from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and the institutes preceding it – a link between the university and working life. There are currently approximately 25 000 Haaga-Helia alumni worldwide.

Haaga-Helia's aim with maintaining alumni relations is to cherish the contacts once created between Haaga-Helia and alumni, as well as between alumni themselves. This way, we can be sure that alumni are able to help today's students to gain current information about business life.
