The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (Vietnamese: Đoàn Thanh niên Cộng sản Hồ Chí Minh) is the largest social-political organisation of Vietnamese youth. The union is led by the Communist Party of Vietnam.
History
The Union was founded on 26 March 1931. From 23-26 March 1931, the second congress of Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam was held in HaNoi, the Central Committee used most of the time to discuss the youth work and make some important decisions, deputing communist party members undertook the youth work from central to local. Subsequently, in the national congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (from 22-26 March 1961), they discussed and decided to select 26 March 1931 to become the founded date of Ho Chi Minh Labor Youth Union, which is the former name of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
