Gymnocalycium baldianium is a species of cacti of the genus Gymnocalycium.
Its original habitat is Catamarca Province in Argentina.

Globish cactus, spherical or a little flat. Diameter up to 8 cm. Colour dark green, sometimes brown. 8 à 10 ribs with tubercles-shaped areoles en forme de tubercules. Groups of 6 to 8 spines on the areoles, pale grey and curved, giving to the species its surname of spider-cactus.
As many cactus, it doesn't divide but may form groups after some years.
The flowers reach diameter of 6 cm, grow near the apex of the plant and are red, pink or orange.

Gymnocalycium baldianium is easy to grow. It needs a well drained soil. In summer, water the plants well but let them to dry before watering again. Use monthly a fertilizer for cacti.
In winter, keep it dry and the temperature may be as low as -10 °C, but it is better to keep it without frost.
The exposure must be sunny in summer and at least luminous in winter.
