Guphapokhari is a natural pond situated at the height of 2,890 metres (9,480 ft)[1] above the sea levels situated in Gufa VDC of Sankhuwasabha District of Nepal. This beautiful lake is also a holy pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The name "Guphapokhari", which means Cave Pond, is a new name given to this about 50 years ago, by Sages and priests who were believed to meditate in the caves around the hills of this area and gave it its new name. Previously, it was called "Siddha Marga" Pokhari. Locals believe that this pond grants your wishes, similar to the Manakamana Temple in Gorkha.
Guphapokhari is one of the most popular destinations in the Tinjure Milke Jaljale Trail, which is famously known as the "Rhododendron capital of Nepal". This region boasts the highest number of Rhododendron Species, 28 out of 32 found in Nepal. Not to mention thousands of other flowers and plants, hundreds species of birds, numerous species of Mammal and the magnificent view of Makalu, Kanchanjunga and Mt. Everest on a clear day. The reflection of the tree, and the mountain ranges is one of the most iconic view of this location. On a clear night, photographers have been able to capture the milkyway reflection on this pond.
