Grand Lodge of Russia (GLoR) (Russian: Великая ложа России) - regular masonic Grand Lodge in Russia. The Grand Lodge of Russia was established on June 24, 1995. It became the first national grand lodge created after the closure of the grand lodges in 1822.

The Grand Lodge of Russia is an integral part of most of the represented Masonic bodies in the world - the regular Freemasonry has mutual recognition with the United Grand Lodge of England (1996) and more than 90 Grand Lodges in the world.[1][2][3]

History

In 1992 and 1993, on the territory of Russia, the Grande Loge Nationale Française, created the lodge: "Harmony" (Moscow), "Lotus" (Moscow), "New Astrea" (St. Petersburg), "Gamayun" (Voronezh).[4]

Andrei Bogdanov — Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Russia

The Grand Lodge of Russia was established 24 June 1995 in Moscow. The founders of the Grand Lodge of Russia are made up by the Grande Loge Nationale Française and the four lodges previously created on the territory of Russia ("Harmony", "Lotus", "Astrea", "Gamayun"). The first Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Russia, through election, was Georgiy Dergachev.

On the 2nd of July 2016, the GLoR counted 1,000 freemasons united over 35 Lodges. The current Grand Master of the GLoR is Andrei Vladimirovich Bogdanov.[7]

Lodges

Currently there are lodges in the following cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Voronezh, Saransk, Krasnodar, Sochi, Magnitogorsk, Perm, Minsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk.

In some cities, two lodges are open or planned to open the additional lodges. There are two lodges in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. In Moscow, there are currently 16 lodges active.[8]

Also, in early 2013 the "Caucasus" District of the GLoR was established, which consisted of two lodges, one in Georgia and one Abkhazia. On March 14, 2015 the District "Caucasus" with the direct participation of the Grand Lodge of Russia, in the east of Tbilisi, was established the Grand Lodge of Georgia.[9]

November 12, 2016, of the lodges previously created in Kazakhstan Grand Lodge of Russia ("Alikhan Bukeikhanov", (Alma-Ata), "Light of the East" (Alma-Ata), «United Nomadic Brothers» (Alma-Ata, English Speaking)), was installed Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan.[10]

The XX anniversary of the Grand Lodge of Russia

July 4, 2015 saw the 20th anniversary Assembly of the Grand Lodge of Russia. At the assembly there were about 300 Masons. The Assembly was host to 30 foreign delegations of fraternal Grand Lodges. In a festive atmosphere, those brothers of the Grand Lodge of Russia, who made a significant contribution to the GLoR for the previous Masonic year were awarded. In a speech the Grand Master Andrei Bogdanov announced further development of the GLoR in all federal districts of Russia and especially of the Far East regions, additionally, the Grand Master announced participation in the development of Freemasonry in Kazakhstan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.[11]
