Gran Canaria is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) that covers the entire island of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) comprising 21 municipalities. It obtained its official status in 2003.
Grapes
Preferred varieties:
- Red: Negra Común or Listán negro, Negramoll, Tintilla and Malvasía rosada
- White: Malvasía, Gual, Marmajuelo or Bermejuela, Vijariego, Albillo and Moscatel de Alejandría
Also authorized:
- Red: Moscatel negra
- White: Listán blanco, Burrablanca, Torrontés, Pedro Jiménes and Brebal
