Girish Khatiwada (Nepali: गिरिश खतिवडा ) (born 30 August 1979) is a founder of rap music in nepal . He is also known as gorkhali 'G' and his fans are proudly called as 'gorkhali bloods' . He is a Nepali hiphop recording artist and is the host of the Nepalese hip hop show on Kantipur FM.[3]
Early life
Girish Khatiwada aka Gorkhali G/ Girish/ DJ Girish/ G.P./ Girish Pranil is a Nepali hiphop recording artist. He is among the most acclaimed rapper in the Nepali music industry. Girish started off hiphop music at a very young age when there were no other mainstream rapper existed in the NEPHOP. Girish recorded his first Rap song called "Meaningless rap" in 1992 which was featured on a compilation album called Talent -3 in 1993. The album was more of a promotional album then which aimed for introducing new artist to the Nepali Music scene. The song was an instant hit among the teenagers. Girish was introduced to Pranil L Timilsena. Soon after they started working on a new Album with the same title. With Girish on the Rap and Pranil on the melody they released their first full length Album "Meaningless Rap" in 1993. The Album was a huge success among the teenagers of that era. It is being said every household with a teenager and a tape recorder must have owned a copy of Meaningless rap that time. 25 years later he is now praised by his fans as the living legend of Nepali rap/hip-hop industry. He used to be a member of GIRISH & THE UNITY[4] which is one of the famous Nepali Band in Nepal. His first rap song 'Ma Yesto Chu Ma tyesto chu' did a good justice to the rapper. It was the first song where the rapper got a chance to showcase his talent to the nepali hiphop community. Eventually, he ended up being a solo rapper artist and released his debut album. He went on to explore a variety of rap songs by collaborating with many RNB and Pop singers. In recent days Gorkhali G has made himself available on his youtube channel Girish Khatiwada which is very popular among his fans and has established himself as the top Vloggers of Nepal.[5]
