Gordon Higgins Junior High School
Gordon Higgins Junior High is a school in Calgary, Alberta. It serves students from Rundle, Temple, Skyview Ranch and Redstone.
Gordon Higgins Junior High School is located at the centre of the Rundle community near the pathway and greenbelt system of the community. The feeder elementary schools are Annie Foote, Cecil Swanson, and Rundle. Some of the students come from other schools to attend the Gifted and Talented Education program. At the completion of Grade 9, students have the opportunity to attend Jack James, Forest Lawn, or Lester B. Pearson High School.
The Dr. Higgins Elementary School first served the community of Rundle in September 1976. In 1981 it became a Junior High School and was upgraded with science labs, an art room, a band room, a graphics lab, an industrial arts shop, and a home economics lab. The school has 28 instructional areas, including a library, 3 science labs, a drama room, three computer labs, networked internet access to every classroom, a high school sized gymnasium, and a lunch room.
West of the school is the main field for soccer, a baseball diamond, and space for a 400-metre track. North of the school is another field used jointly by St. Rupert's Catholic Elementary School.
