The eir Spiders, originally known as the Golden Spider Awards and later as the Eircom Spiders, is an annual awards ceremony honouring Irish individuals and organisations for "innovative" activities on the Internet and in digital media in Ireland.[2]
Established in 1996,[3] the awards are hosted by Business & Finance magazine and sponsored by telecommunications company eir (formerly known as Eircom).[4]
A parallel set of awards for young people aged 19 and under, known as the eir Junior Spiders, was established in 2009.[3]
