Gojko Cimirot (born 19 December 1992) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Greek club PAOK and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Club career
Cimirot started his career with Leotar,[2] before moving Sarajevo in 2013.[3] During his playing time with Sarajevo, he was voted as the best player in the league.[4]
PAOK
On 12 August 2015, PAOK reached an agreement with Sarajevo over the transfer of Cimirot as Sarajevo had accepted a bid in the region of €2 million from PAOK.[5] Cimirot put pen to paper on a contract worth €400,000 per year.[6]
On 23 August 2015, the opening day of 2015–2016 season, Cimirot injured his left foot and subsequently missed the next eight weeks of action.[7] Upon return from his injury, he made a string of good performances which got him voted as player of the month December at PAOK.[8] On 21 November 2016, PAOK officially announced the extension of Cimirot, for one more season, until the summer of 2019.[9]
International career
Cimirot was a regular member of Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 team.
He made his senior debut on 4 September 2014, in a friendly game against Liechtenstein.[10]
