Giwa Local Government area was created on 15 September 1991, by then president and commander in - chief of the arm force of the federal republic of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR, out of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It also a Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Giwa.
It has an area of 2,066 km² and a population of 286,427 at the 2006 census. its has 11 ward and 2 development area Administrative/ Council. It located in Northen west of Kaduna State
