Githurai

Githurai is an estate that is located at the border of Kiambu County and Nairobi County along Thika Road. There are two Githurais namely Githurai 45 (also known as Githurai Kimbo). Githurai 45 falls within Ruiru Sub-County of Kiambu County with the boundary being the Thika Road reserve and River Kasarani (also known as River Gathara-ini). There is also a Githurai 44 which is domiciled in Roysambu Sub-County of Nairobi County. Githurai 44 neighbors Kahawa West, Zimmerman and Njatha-ini Village.

Githurai has Blessed Hands High School and St Lucie Kiriri Girls High School, Kiriri Women's University of Science and Technology[1] Lily Academy and St. Kizito Vocational Training Institute.[2][3] Githurai is served by the Thika Road Super Highway and a branch of the Kenya-Uganda Railway from Nairobi to Thika via Ruiru. There exists an Kenya Army Amoury belonging to the Kahawa Garrison/Barracks in Githurai Kimbo. A Githurai Shopping Centre exists.[4] Githurai Community Clinic is near, but not in Githurai.[5] Other residential areas in the Nairobi include Kahawa, Kasarani, Dandora, Ongata Rongai and Ruai.[6]

Githurai 45 has several banks including Family Bank, Equity Bank and Cooperative Bank and Saccos such as the famous Kingdom Sacco have pitched tent due to the busy market. According to an article [7] in the Standard Newspaper, Githurai 45 Matatu's operate 24 hours especially the famous Paradiso,Virginia, Jeean, Rockerz, Zamzam and Others which can be boarded from Ronald Ngala Street in Nairobi very cheaply. Githurai is home to Raja plastics which is a recycling company aimed at preserving the environment.
