Giorgio Bàrberi Squarotti

Giorgio Bàrberi Squarotti[1] (29 September 1929 – 9 April 2017) was an Italian academic and poet.

He taught Italian literature at the University of Turin from 1967 until his death in 2017.[2]

He was one of the most important Italian literary critics.[3] He was very known for his intense work on important Italian authors such Dante, Machiavelli, Tasso, Manzoni, Verga, Gozzano, and also for his interest in contemporary authors. He was director of the historical "Grande dizionario della lingua italiana" UTET[4]
