Gibson E. Armstrong (born August 28, 1943) served as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate from 1984 to 2009. He represented the 13th District. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1977 to 1984. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969 and is a Vietnam War Veteran.[2]
Armstrong served as Senator for the 13th Senatorial District from 1984 to 2009. In 2005, he supported, voted for and took the controversial General Assembly pay raise, which cost his son, with the same name, re-election in the House in 2006.
During his career, Armstrong chaired the Appropriations Committee and Banking and Insurance Committees and was a member of the Finance Committee, Labor and Industry Committee, Rules Committee and the Urban Affairs Committee.
Armstrong graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania with a BBA in Economics in 1965.
Prior to and while in office, including while chairing the Banking and Insurance Committee, Armstrong was an investment advisor.
