Gershon Shofman
Gershon Shoffman (Hebrew: גרשון שופמן) (born 1880; died 1972) was an Israeli writer and painter.
Biography
Shoffman was born in Orsha, in the Mogilev Governorate of the Russian Empire (present-day Belarus) in 1880. His parents were Zalman Shoffman and Feiga Haya Levin. In 1913, he emigrated to Austria, where he married in 1921. He, his wife and two children emigrated to Mandate Palestine in 1937 or 1938.
Awards
- In 1946, Shoffman was awarded the Bialik Prize for Literature.[1]
- In 1956, he was awarded the Israel Prize, for literature.[2]
