George Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle
Lieutenant-Commander George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle (6 January 1895 – 17 February 1963), styled Viscount Morpeth from 1911 to 1912, was a British nobleman, politician, and peer.
Family
Lord Carlisle married his first wife Bridget Monckton, 11th Lady Ruthven of Freeland on 17 January 1918. They had two children:
- Lady Carolyn Bridget Dacre (b. 1919).
- Charles James Ruthven, Viscount Morpeth (1923–1994), later 12th Earl of Carlisle
He married Esme Mary Shrubb Iredell (d. 5 June 1997) on 16 August 1947. They had one child:
- Lady Susan Howard (b. November 13, 1948) who married twice. Firstly in 1967 to James Buchanan-Jardine (1946-2017) they had a daughter Flora Jane Buchanan-Jardine (b. 1971) before the marriage ended in divorce. [1] Lady Susan married secondly Hubert Charles Ct de Meyer in 1978 and had a son, Alexander Charles Benedict Ct de Meyer (b. 1979).[2]
