Archbishop George Antonysamy is the serving Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madras and Mylapore.
Early Life
He was born on 15 February 1952 in Trichy, Tamilnadu.
Religious Life
He was ordained a Catholic Priest on 19 November 1980. He was appointed as the Charge d’Affaires of the Vatican Embassy in Jordan by Pope John Paul II in 2002. He was appointed Titular Archbishop of Sulci on 4 Aug 2005. He was appointed as the Apostolic Nuncio to Gambia, Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone and still holds that office. He was Ordained a Bishop on 21 Sep 2005. He was appointed Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madras and Mylapore on 21 Nov 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI.[1][2][3]
