General Authority for Entertainment is responsible for all active entertainment related activities in Saudi Arabia. It was created in May 7, 2016. Its first president was Ahmed bin Aqeel al-Khatib.[1]
Tasks
The authority is responsible for defining a clear vision for the evolution of the entertainment industry. This includes organizing recreational centers that comport with the customs and traditions of the country and increase local tourism activities. In addition, they are to improve the investment climate to attract foreign funds and reduce the export of capital. The Authority is to work in collaboration with the private sector to reduce the burden of government spending. Another goal is to create job opportunities for the young, particularly women, working at properly-managed leisure centers.
Entertainment centers
The Authority must define the regulations for entertainment centers, such as hours or work, minimum ages, maximum capacity and the distance between centers and residential buildings.
