Gerard "Ged" Killen is a Scottish Labour Party politician. Since the 2017 General Election he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rutherglen and Hamilton West[1] after achieving a vote swing of just under 9% from the previous incumbent and their party.[2][3]
He joined the Labour Party in 2007 and was elected councillor for the Rutherglen South ward of South Lanarkshire Council at the age of 26,[4] in a 2013 by-election[5] (following the death of Cllr Anne Higgins), having been a defeated candidate in the main 2012 elections.[4]
He retained his council seat in the 2017 elections, this time in the Rutherglen Central and North ward.[6]
He attended Trinity High School in Rutherglen.[4][7]
