Personal life and death

DeVore married the singer Maria Cole (1969–1978)[1] and the actresses Sandie Newton (1981–1985),[1] Claudia Christian (1988–1992),[2] and Wendy Devore (1996–1997).[3]

DeVore disappeared in June 1997, prompting an extensive search and media speculation. A year later, his car was discovered submerged in the California Aqueduct in Palmdale, California.[3]

A 2014 documentary, The Writer with No Hands, posited that DeVore's death was the result of a US government conspiracy.[4][5][6] It also alleges that the hands autopsied with the body were 200 years old and therefore not DeVore's.[2]
