Gacharic Spin is an all-female Japanese rock band formed in 2009.[1] Currently composed of four instrumentalists and two performers, almost all the members have performed lead vocals, although drummer Hana and keyboardist Oreo Reona are the main singers.

Gacharic Spin have performed at Anime Matsuri in Texas, at Japan Expo in France, in South Korea and also performed at Tekko in Pittsburgh.[2] Together with vocalist Fuki from Light Bringer, all four instrumentalists from Gacharic Spin are also in the band Doll$Boxx which formed in 2012.[3] The four also have an alter ego band called Metallic Spin where they cover classic heavy metal songs, currently with Saber Tiger vocalist Takenori Shimoyama.

Career

Gacharic Spin was formed in 2009 by former high school classmates, bassist F Chopper Koga and drummer Hana.[4] After open auditions, they recruited vocalist Armmy and guitarist Eita (Stylized as EITA) and opened their website on June 10. However, Eita left after a November 28, 2009 concert and was replaced by former Eu Phoria member Tomo-zo.

Less than a year after forming, Gacharic Spin made their national television debut in July 2010 performing "Lock On!!" on NHK General TV's Music Japan.[5] The members have also served as backing band to Nanase Aikawa, as motion capture models for the 2011 video game Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Extend, and coached members of AKB48 for their 2012 music video "Give Me Five!".[5]

Armmy left the band on March 14, 2012 and went on to form TakaEita with Eita.[6] Support member Oreo Reona, who was also in Eu Phoria with Tomo-zo, became a full member providing keyboards and vocals just ten days later.[7] Although they began to look for a new vocalist, they had a French tour confirmed and Hana and Oreo Reona had previously been singers, therefore they decided to share the job.[8]

In 2013, Gacharic Spin recruited dancers Mai and Arisa into the band. The reasoning was because their main vocalists are also the drummer and keyboardist, they wanted someone able to move freely and stir up the audience.[9]

Gacharic Spin signed to major label Victor Entertainment in 2014, releasing the compilation album Gachatto Best 2010-2014. In 2015, they played at the J-Pop Summit in San Francisco.[10] Their 2015 single "Don't Let Me Down" was used as the final ending theme song of Dragon Ball Kai.[11] Performer Arisa decided to leave the band in July 2015 for academic pursuits. Mai's sixteen-year-old high school underclassman and fan of the band, Nenne, was recruited in her place.[8][12]
