Full Genomes Corporation was founded in 2013 to make next generation sequencing technology available for the DTC (direct to consumer) market focusing on the Y chromosome. Full Genomes was the first company in the United States to offer a next generation sequencing test of the Y chromosome in January 2013.[5] Full Genomes was the first company to offer whole genome sequencing without a doctor's order in January 2015.[6] The founders are citizen scientists and active in the genetic genealogy community. Full Genomes provides research and direct to consumer genetics services. The headquarters are in Rockville, Maryland, in the USA.

Products

Full Genomes offers whole genome sequencing,[7][8][9] Y chromosome sequencing,[10][11] and analysis of next generation sequencing data [12] generated by other companies. Full Genomes's offerings provide one of the few options for US consumers to receive whole genome sequencing data without ordering from a medical institution. By design, the purpose of the company was to provide that service, which was not available at the time of the founding of the company in 2013. That offering was announced in 2015.[6]

Team

Technology

Full Genomes has developed proprietary Y chromosome analytical tools. These tools are optimized for Y chromosome SNP calling and Y chromosome phylogeny construction. These have been used to analyze a variety of consumer data and data from research institutions.[10]
