Fruškogorski maraton

Fruškogorski maraton[1] is a yearly hiking and ultra running marathon held on the last weekend of April or the first of May on Fruška gora, Serbia. The 38th edition will take place April 25/26th 2015.

History

The event was first held in 1978. These days it lasts for two days (Saturday/Sunday), with over 18,000 participants. There are 19 paths, ranging from 4 to 125 km in length.

Since 2011 Fruška Gora Marathon is qualifying event for Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, ultramarathon that takes place once a year in the Alps, across France, Italy and Switzerland.

Routes

The start and finish of the race is in Popovica, on the outskirts of the city of Novi Sad. Participants register for the race on the venue of start, and registration is free of charge. Since 2015 there are 19 marathon routes. The shortest is a 4.4-km long children's route, going longer with short, mid, long and ultra marathon, as well as the ultra extreme marathon that is 125 km long. The marathon routes are marked throughout the woods, and Fruška Gora Marathon trails are marked on signs with a red heart on a white background.
