Mis en chantier on March 27, 1987, the boat was launched on September 22, 1990, and admitted to active duty service on July 7, 1993.
The boat is the sixth and last of the Rubis series.
The boat was deployed in the Royal Navy Auriga 2010 exercise alongside 7 Royal Navy war ships and 1 U.S.Navy destroyer.
