Frederick G. Keyes
Frederick George Keyes (June 24, 1885 – April 14, 1976) was an American physical chemist. [1] [2] Keys was most notable for inventing a method to sterilize milk using ultra-violet rays, and discovering that ultra-violet rays kill germs.[3] According to the National Academies Press Keys was also notable for "advances in thermodynamics, equations of state of gases, and thermodynamic properties, in particular liquid water and steam".[2] Keyes was Head of Department of Chemistry at MIT,[1] and a member of the National Academy of Sciences[1][2]
