Frans de Kat is a Dutch former footballer and current footballing coach who's the head of the Dutch national footballing academy.[3]

Playing career

De Kat first played as a professional footballer for SC Heerenveen. He later played for clubs such as SC REMO and SVV Scheveningen. [4]

Coaching career

After ending his playing career, De Kat moved toward a career in coaching, with him earning in Heerenveen a CIOS-diploma and studying in Den Haag at the Academy of Physical Education. He thereafter joined as a district coach of the KNVB. From 2001 to 2003 De Kat, in succeeding Ruud Dokter, was the head coach at the helm of the Netherlands Women's Football Team. In 2003, he received his UEFA Pro professional football coaching license.[1] In 2004, he was replaced as the Dutch Women's football manager by Vera Pauw.[5] In total he was at the helm for 27 games.

He was also appointed as the Head of education, Assistant Manager and Manager of the reserves at ADO Den Haag. As well, he was named as the Head of Scouting and Academy consultant to that of Willem II. In March 2010 he coached Willem II Women's team until the end of the season.[6] In July 2010 De Kat served for 18 months as the technical consultant to club RKDEO.[4]

On 1 July 2014 De Kat linked up with London club Arsenal F.C. in the scope of manager of the club's Under18s.[2]
