Jose Francisco Rodriguez Tamayo (born 10 July 1993) is a Mexican professional boxer. He is a former unified minimumweight world champion, having held the WBO and then concurrently the IBF title in 2014.

Professional career

Rodriguez made his professional debut on August 2, 2010, at the age of 17. In just his 12th professional fight, he challenged and lost to two division champion, Roman Gonzalez, in a non-title fight at the Flyweight limit. Gonzalez was in control through seven rounds when the referee abruptly stopped the fight despite Rodriguez not appearing badly hurt and still firing back.

After scoring two consecutive victories, Rodriguez returned to the Minimumweight division to challenge WBO champion Merlito Sabillo on March 22, 2014. He dropped the champion twice en route to a tenth-round TKO to claim his first world title.
